Augmentation
More information
Augmentation is a procedure carried out for the purpose of increasing the volume of breasts or also improving their shape by means of silicone implants, which may be placed under the breast gland, partially under the muscle or completely under the muscle. The positioning of the implant and the incision may be performed in the under-breast crease, areola or incision in the armpit. The choice of implants and their placement depends on your wishes, physical proportions and consultation with the surgeon.
The operation consists of:
- Surgeon cuts an opening below the breast or in the armpit to insert implants
- The implant can be positioned behind the chest muscle or between breast tissue and chest muscle
- The incision gets stitched up and dressed, whole procedure last approx. an hour
Recovery
Recovery takes couple of weeks and includes wearing post-operative bra for at least 6 weeks post operatively. Some surgeons recommend this to be worn for at least 3 moths to make sure the breast is properly healed, and implant stabilised.
The post-operative compression bra stabilises the implant, increases the blood circulation and speeds up the healing process while reducing potential risk. It is easy to put on after the procedure, due to front fastening.
Breast binder – consult with your surgeon the necessity of using breast binder in first weeks following surgery.
